The Artist and the Soldier Ep. 1

Fighting for her right to shine.
Fighting for her right to dream in color.
Fighting for her love to last and for our children to feel it more.

Early mornings and stressed nights pull me away longer.

I miss her sparkle.
I miss the oceans that pool in her eyes.
How they gleam when she smiles.

I distract myself in laughter with my peers when the miles drag me wide from home.

But knowing I do this to keep my little peace of heaven thriving,
calms my soul a little softer.

I know all is well, all is safe.

And they’re waiting for me when I find my way back to them.
