An official studio announcement | October 2026 

As we begin looking toward 2027, we're preparing for a slightly different chapter here at Johanna V. Creative.

Since opening the studio, much of our time has been spent creating, experimenting, building collections, introducing new products, and finding our footing as a small creative business. It's been a season of discovery, and one that has given us so much to build upon.

But as we continue to grow, we're recognizing the importance of making room for something equally valuable: learning.

A Season of Creative Development

Throughout 2027, we'll be intentionally shifting some of our attention away from regular production to focus on developing our skills, exploring new techniques, studying our craft, and refining the creative processes behind the studio.

From illustration and surface pattern design to product development, creative storytelling, and the everyday workings of running a small business, there is so much we want to learn.

We want to give ourselves the time and space to explore those interests thoughtfully, without feeling the constant pressure to turn every new idea into a finished product.

This doesn't mean we're stepping away from creating. Quite the opposite.

It means we're giving ourselves the opportunity to grow as artists, designers, and storytellers, allowing what we learn to influence the work we share in the years ahead.

What This Means for the Studio

Our collections, patterns, products, and creative resources will continue to be available for you to explore and enjoy.

However, you may notice a quieter release schedule throughout the coming year.

New patterns, products, illustrations, and other creative projects will still find their way into the studio, but we'll be moving away from the expectation of frequent releases.

Rather than creating simply to maintain a schedule, we want to allow each project the time and attention it deserves.

We'll also be taking this opportunity to revisit portions of our website, refine how our collections are presented, and make it easier to discover and enjoy the work we've already created.

Continuing to Create, Just a Little Differently

One of the things we love most about creativity is that there's always something new to discover.

A different technique. An unfamiliar medium. A new way of looking at color, composition, or storytelling.

And sometimes, the most meaningful creative progress happens long before there's a finished piece to share.

We hope to make more room for those moments in the coming year.

There will still be new things to discover at Johanna V. Creative. Some may be familiar, while others may reflect the new directions our studies and experiments take us.

We don't know exactly what everything will look like yet, and we're excited to find out.

Looking Ahead

Our hope is that this next chapter will help us build a more thoughtful, sustainable, and creatively fulfilling studio.

One where learning and making can exist alongside one another, where existing collections continue to be appreciated, and where new work is given the freedom to develop naturally.

To everyone who has visited the studio, explored our patterns, supported our little shop, or simply followed along as we've found our way: thank you.

We're looking forward to everything this next chapter has to teach us.

An upcoming creative project from Johanna V. Creative

There's something rather lovely about a simple sheet of patterned paper.

Whether it's covered in delicate florals, whimsical illustrations, or a playful arrangement of colors and shapes, patterned paper has a way of inviting us to imagine what it might become.

A handmade card, a little piece of wall art, a decorated journal, or something entirely unexpected.

And that's exactly what we'll be exploring in a new creative project coming to Johanna V. Creative in 2027.

Beyond the Printed Page

As we've continued developing our surface patterns and expanding our Printed Library, we've found ourselves increasingly interested in the many ways these designs can be used beyond their original presentation.

After all, a sheet of patterned paper doesn't have to remain just a sheet of paper.

It can be cut, folded, layered, combined with other materials, and transformed into something entirely new.

Our upcoming blog will be dedicated to exploring those possibilities.

From simple paper crafts and decorative projects to experimenting with color, pattern placement, and composition, we'll be taking a closer look at how patterned paper can become part of everyday creativity.

Learning Through Making

This project will also be part of our larger commitment to creative exploration and skill development throughout 2027.

We'll be experimenting with different techniques, studying creative applications, and sharing some of what we discover along the way.

Some projects may be wonderfully simple. Others may require a little more patience, planning, or experimentation.

And not every experiment will necessarily turn out as expected!

But that's part of the joy of making things.

We want this to be a space where curiosity is encouraged, creativity feels approachable, and the process of learning is just as meaningful as the finished project.

A New Place to Find Inspiration

Our hope is to create a growing collection of articles filled with ideas, inspiration, and practical ways to enjoy patterned paper.

Whether you're someone who loves scrapbooking, junk journaling, handmade stationery, seasonal crafts, or simply finding new ways to use beautiful paper, we hope you'll find something here that encourages you to create.

We'll also be exploring ways to incorporate designs from our own Pattern Archive and Printed Library, giving familiar patterns new opportunities to shine.

Coming in 2027

We're still in the early stages of developing this project, and there are plenty of ideas we'd like to explore before its official introduction.

For now, we're simply excited to share that something new is on the horizon.

We look forward to spending a little more time with paper, patterns, and the possibilities that come from putting the two together.

Here's to learning something new, making something lovely, and discovering just how much can begin with a single sheet of paper.

While regular updates to these series will be on hold, their existing articles will continue to offer inspiration, ideas, and a little glimpse into the creative world of Johanna V. Creative.

We may occasionally return to these spaces when inspiration strikes, but for now, we're making room for new explorations and creative pursuits.
