They Were Meant to Fly

A few weeks ago, I brought home an Insect Lore Butterfly Kit—a small, simple way to watch something grow. From tiny larvae, to chrysalis, to butterfly… we are now at the stage where they are getting ready to be released.
And I found myself imagining a question from my son:
“Why do we have to let them go?”
I imagine telling him that every living thing in this world has a role in helping life continue. A quiet purpose that shapes the world around them. For butterflies, it’s to encourage growth—to move, to change, to become.
And then I imagine him asking about us.
About his father. About me.
I would tell him that his father’s purpose is to inspire. It shows up in the way he leads, in how he encourages others to try things they may have never done on their own. In the quiet way he draws people in and motivates them to become more.
And for me… I believe my purpose is to nurture.
To hold space for people as they grow.
To help them heal from within.
To remind them that they are not alone.
Because these qualities—growth, inspiration, nurturing—they don’t belong to just one path. They exist in so many forms, expressed in so many different ways.
That’s what makes this world so beautiful.
It is a place built on unique systems—each one encouraging, inspiring, nurturing… and becoming.
